‘Nature really is the best medicine’

One-on-one Forest Therapy Walks

Personalised. Restorative. Just for you.

Whether you’re seeking a moment of calm, support through a life transition, or simply a deeper connection with nature, a private Forest Therapy walk offers a safe, gentle space to unwind, reset, and be held by the natural world.

We curate one-on-one sessions that are thoughtfully tailored to your needs, pace, and intentions. Together, we’ll choose from some of the most beautiful tracks in the Royal National Park or local bushland has to offer and create a deeply personal experience just for you.

Over the course of two to three hours, you’ll be guided through a slow, mindful walk beneath the trees, supported by a series of sensory invitations and nature-based practices that help you reconnect with your body, breath, and inner stillness.

Backed by science, Forest Therapy has been shown to:

  • Reduce stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Support better sleep and immune function

  • Improve focus, energy, and emotional wellbeing

  • Lower blood pressure and calm the nervous system

In a world that rarely stops moving, this is your permission to pause.

To exhale.

And to let nature do what it does best — gently restore and rebalance.

Group Forest Therapy Walks

Healing together, held by nature.

There is something deeply powerful about coming together beneath the trees.

When we walk slowly, side by side, without the rush of words or pressure to perform, something shifts. The forest begins to hold us, and we begin to remember ourselves.

At Forest Connection, we offer group Forest Therapy walks that invite connection to nature, to each other, and to the quiet magic that happens when we simply allow ourselves to be.

Rooted in the internationally recognised, evidence-based practice of Nature Therapy, these sessions are designed to support your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Research shows this work can reduce stress, anxiety and depression, while supporting the immune system, lowering blood pressure, and improving focus, sleep and emotional regulation. These walks are slow, accessible, and soul-nourishing.

But beyond the science, this is about being seen, being held, and being gently welcomed back to your own breath.

Why join a group walk?

  • To feel a sense of belonging, without needing to explain yourself

  • To be part of something real, grounded, and heart-led

  • To reconnect with your senses and nature’s quiet rhythms

  • To let go, gently, in a space where nothing is expected

  • To experience healing, not through fixing, but through being

 FAQs

  • Forest Therapy, or Shinrin-Yoku, is a gentle, sensory-based walk inspired by the Japanese practice of “bathing in the forest atmosphere.” It’s not a hike, it’s a slow, guided journey that invites you to reconnect with nature through mindfulness, presence, and deep listening. Think of it as nature’s version of meditation, where the forest is both the guide and the healer.

  • In a world that often asks us to hurry, Forest Therapy invites us to slow down.

    Backed by research, benefits include:

    • Reduced stress, anxiety, and blood pressure

    • Boosted mood and immune system

    • Increased clarity, creativity, and connection

    • A deeper sense of belonging, to self, others, and the Earth

It’s medicine, but not the kind in a bottle. It’s the kind found under the canopy, in the birdsong, in the breath.

  • Each walk unfolds gently. As your guide, I offer a series of invitations, simple sensory or creative activities that help you connect with nature in your own way.

We move slowly, in silence at times, with space to pause, reflect, and (if you wish) share. It’s not about getting somewhere, it's about arriving more fully in the moment.

    • Comfortable enclosed walking shoes

    • Weather-appropriate clothing (layers, raincoat, hat)

    • Water bottle and light snack

    • A small mat or towel to sit on

    • Medication

    • An open heart and curious spirit

  • Forest Therapy walks continue in light rain, it can be magical walking beneath the trees as raindrops tap the leaves like a lullaby.

However, in the case of extreme weather (heavy storms, high winds, or fire danger), the walk will be postponed or rescheduled for everyone’s safety. You’ll be notified in advance.

  • Not at all. Most walks cover less than 3km over 2 to 3 hours. It’s unhurried and inclusive of rest stops, with plenty of sitting or stillness. It’s suitable for a range of abilities and is more about how we walk than how far we go.

  • Anyone who feels called to connect more deeply with nature and themselves.

    Forest Therapy is suitable for:

    • People 13 years and over

    • Beginners to mindfulness or meditation

    • Those navigating stress, burnout, or life transitions

    • People with physical limitations (accessible walks available, please contact us)

    • Groups, teams, carers, and support communities

Whether you're curious, tired, healing, or simply longing for stillness, you're welcome here.

Stories from the heart

I did the Forest Therapy walk with Josefine a few months ago. It was a nourishing and enriching activity. We had a moment of guided meditation with breathwork, some quiet time for personal reflection, moments to pause and contemplate nature, as well as opportunities to share and connect with others. It was a lovely morning and Josefine guided us with such love and respect for nature. I would really recommend this experience.
